air. In fact, the tropical rainforests are the single greatest terrestrial
source of air that we breathe.

Pomegranate
Our Organic Pomegranate seeds are extracted into glycerine by a proprietary
process this unique extraction process is qualified by the Soil
Association.
contains antioxidants and studies show pomegranate extract is effective
in stimulating the skin’s collagen production, and inhibiting free
radicals. Pomegranate also appears to be able to help repair the skin of
sun damage.
Pomegranate is high in ellagic acid, which has many health benefits, for
example, it is a powerful scavenger of free radicals, and extremely effective in
increasing the body’s own built-in antioxidant, glutathione, which in turn helps
protect the DNA in cells from free radical damage. Polyphenols, such as ellagic
acid, also inhibit the formation of harmful enzymes that cause cells to grow out
of control. This is important in terms of cancer prevention because
out-of-control cell division is a hallmark of cancer.
By inhibiting specific enzymes, Ellagic acid and other polyphenols regulate cell
turnover and give the cell time to divide normally and form completely. Ellagic
acid is also thought to strengthen the cell membrane, making it less susceptible
to free radical damage and preventing water loss from the cell.

Q10
Coenzyme Q10 and vitamin E are the most important lipophilic (oil-loving) skin
antioxidants. Both, structurally closely related to each other, are naturally
contained in almost every body cell including the skin, with higher levels in
the epidermis/horny layer than the dermis. The sebum is particularly rich in
these lipophilic antioxidants to protect the outer skin surface from oxidative
attack. However it was also shown that the level of mainly Coenzyme Q10 declines
with age. Topical application of coenzyme Q10 and vitamin E will help to balance
the endogenous antioxidant level.
Topical application of coenzyme Q10 and vitamin E will help to balance the
endogenous antioxidant level.
Its co-presence together with vitamin E in other membranes deserves major
recognition: coenzyme Q10 and vitamin E together form a defense against
oxidative attack.
After topical application of Q10 plus E, skin enzymes will release the active
antioxidants tocopherol and ubiquinol.
The ability of the skin to regenerate itself is strongly supported by coenzyme
Q10 which also reduces the depth of wrinkles.
Its antioxidant function - Environmental aggressors such as UV-light or ozone,
which may generate free radicals, have been identified as a major source of
premature skin aging. For instance, UVA-induced oxidative stress in the skin is
manifested by ultra weak photon emissions. Volunteers who applied twice daily a
0.3% coenzyme Q10 cream for a week had significantly lower levels than the
placebo control1.
A study with 20 volunteers has shown that an emulsion with 2% Q10 plus E plus
significantly inhibits the UV light induced sebum (squalene) oxidation compared
to the placebo control. The creams were applied once daily for seven days to the
inner forearm.
Reduces the effects of photo-aging - a placebo-controlled study involving 24
healthy volunteers (mean age 46) showed that the appearance of visible wrinkles
around the eye (crow’s-feet) were significantly reduced by 27% with a cream
containing 0.3% coenzyme Q10 that was applied for six months1. The reduction of
the wrinkle depth was measured by profilometry of silicon replicas.
Furthermore, the corneocyte size, which normally increases with age was reduced
on the forearm skin.

Vitamin A
One of a few substances
with a molecular small enough to penetrate the outer layers of skin and
work to repair the lower layers of the skin where collagen and elastin
live. This allows the retinol to repair and stimulate collagen and
elastin, which produces firmer, smoother skin.
Vitamin A nourishes the skin, counteracts inflammations and protects cell
membranes and other structures within the cells from the damage caused by free
radicals and in this way helps to prevent skin disorders. It also plays an
important role in the functioning of the eyes and the making of new skin and
mucous membranes.

Vitamin E
We use natural GMO-free, food grade Oil. Extracted from Soya and Sunflower
seeds,
When applied on the skin, acts an antioxidant which prevents the
formation of free radicals on the skin and protects it from damage.
Vitamin E helps to retain the skins natural moisture.
Skin is able to absorb natural Vitamin E effectively and only
natural Vitamin E oil is increasingly active as soon as it makes
contact with the skin.
Vitamin E is a classic antioxidant, which protects against the destruction of
the connective tissue caused by free radicals. Natural Vitamin E does not
significantly activate itself in the product, so won't help to prevent your
product from going rancid but it does activate itself when coming into contact
with the skin, working as an antioxidant. From our experience of working with
Vitamins on the skin, we believe that the Natural Vitamin E has better healing
properties than the Simulated Vitamin E.

Witch hazel
We use Organic witch hazel leaves that are
extracted into glycerine by a proprietary process. This unique extraction
process is qualified by the Soil Association. Witch hazel’s main active
constituents are: tannins (up to 10%) and volatile oils. These constituents
contribute to the strong astringent effect of witch hazel. Also contains
saponins and glycosides. As well as being astringent, it is anti-inflammatory,
making it useful in treating oily or large-pored skin or minor pimples.
Witch hazels
high tannin content has a strengthening astringent effect on veins and is
therefore very useful for treating varicose veins and minor capillary problems.
The external skin forms a protective covering after the tannins have tightened
the proteins and underlying blood vessels, thus reducing inflammation. Unlike
arnica, witch hazel can be used on broken and damaged skin. It is mildly
antiseptic and soothing. Witch hazel is also said to stimulate the formation of
new epithelial cells and is often used cold or with ice to reduce the pain of
sprains and athletic injuries and to reduce swollen bruises.
